Dulaang UP‘s production of Nick Joaquin’s Tatarin was an enjoyable-enough play, but left no lasting imprint on me (or my girl, whom i watched it with); it just wasn’t remarkable. it did succeed in giving a vintage American-occupied Philippines vibe throughout, and the acting was sufficient. the Tatarin procession/dance semi-spectacles looked and seemed fun, but the socialite group-dance sans music was a lot more affecting.
