Canon’s go impressively smaller

SCOOP, SCOOP: The Canon Powershot A510, a 3.2MP, 4x zoom (based on the images, it uses optical zoom!) digicam that uses two AA batteries (!), and “is 13 percent smaller and 20 percent lighter than its predecessor, the A75” [source]. This will come out late January (in the US), and will be sold at a measly $200.

I’ve been considerate of Canon’s popular entry-level digicam, the A400, which I’ve personally used. However, this new model looks very, very promising. However (!), they have ceased to use CF memory cards for these units, and have opted for SD memory cards, instead.

Still, hold on to your digicam budget kids, this looks like its worth the wait.
