Semana Santa is photo-op season, but instead of going up north to Pampanga, RFilipinas decided to head south. I was under the assumption we’d be just doing the round of churches in Rizal, but we went further and found ourselves in Laguna.
Before the actual shoot, we feasted on foot-and-a-half crispy dalag. During lunch I found out my Blik rangefinder accessory for my Lomo Smena 8M compact camera was inaccurate, and so was the rangefinder on my Fed 3: so its back to guesstimating focus! Thankfully, I did bring the Lubitel 166B pseudo-TLR with me as my non-RF gadget. Yes, no DSLR-lugging this time.
Let’s start with the group mug shot:

The following shots were made from a Lomo Smena 8M compact camera with Lucky SHD 400ASA black and white film, all guesstimate focused. Developed BY MYSELF during a recent RFilipinas meetup at the Fotofabrik studio, using a homebrew Parodinal developer.
Then we were off to nearby Pakil:
Some out of focus, very grainy samples, I know. Take it easy on the comments: its my very first attempt at shooting black and white, and my very first take on developing film as well.
The rangefinder aesthetic is so darn infectious, but I’m not at a point where I’d be shunning digital photography anytime in the future.
More semana santa photos to be posted soon, from the Lubitel, once I find out how to scan medium format negatives real cheap.

Can’t wait to get my Yashica Electro 35 GSN from the repair guy this afternoon. I’ll try cheap color film with that first.
how much of parodinal did you put into the tank? croppable pa naman and they will still look great.
I just followed Jay’s instructions re measurement, and made adjustments when I couldn’t get the right temperature. All I know is better master RF skills pa muna din 🙂
