Behind the Sun feels like a made-for-tv movie, albeit a good one. Walter Salles did an apparently better job on Central Station. oddly, his next project is a Dark Water rehash.

on sharonianism

my kazaalite download list almost always includes some obscure, local radio hit of the 70s and early 80s. glad to know that during my random scanning of record store cds, Vicor Records re-released miss cuneta’s first album, DJ’s Pet.

an easy mixture of that staple manila sound, bell-bottom tearjerkers, jukebox rarities, and those oh-so-lovely horns-in-unison later in the chorus. perfect for sunday morning listening. exactly the kind of record i can show my mom (a Vilmanian-at-heart, but is also a fan of the old-school sharon).

and as to contrast the first-half post, i also recently acquired Hum‘s You’d Prefer an Astronaut.
