i’ve read about stereo cameras, but its the first time i’ve seen LOMO do this, as we can see here at eBay. here‘s the ‘non-stereo’ version of the camera shown above.

take a visit at your local VCD-han

its an odd, but totally genuine feeling, that i proclaim how heartwarming it is to see the variety of local movies out on VCD (crappy format, but it will do; still prefer VHS to this) now. anything from joey de leon‘s she-man (poster? click here!), to long-lost restored gerardo de leon classic sanda wong.

equally fantastic is that vicor music has decided to re-release on cd some albums of its own. remember, i proudly bought the re-issue of sharon cuneta’s first album. now, the last time i saw didith reyes on anything was on a vinyl LP we once owned. yes, rock music snobs, i guess im not going to buy it for purposes of my father’s nostalgia only.

watching and reading

since i am too lazy and unwilling to trek the north expressway to acquire a copy of Lost in Translation, i figured out one of our local video stores that rent out pirated dvd’s might have a copy. matter of fact, they do, but it was OUT. dammit. had it reserved, anyway.

the above image is the obligatory stamp you get when you enter the annual UP Fair. what happened? someone got stabbed again.

the last time i attended the fair (years ago, cant remember definite year) i was leisurely hanging out somewhere when one guy suddenly fell, approximately one to two feet away from me, with a big thump to the ground, clutching an area of his torso, and grimacing with pain. one or two seconds later, someone was on his knees and telling him to hang in there. minutes later, i had the confirmation that he was stabbed.

yesterday (technically, early this morning), after collective thug violence of people wanting to enter the fairgrounds (who were granted a fraction of their wish of being allowed to tear down the galvanized iron sheet walls to watch the concert, but was still refused entry), during that Tsinelas song by Kamikazee, the singer pointed out that someone was being stabbed in the mosh pit. seconds later, half of the people started a semi-stampede towards the back of the venue. curious me, i went for the stage after a few minutes, hoping to get a glimpse, overhear a story of what happened.

Ginripuhan‘ was the word of the day :/

Balzac et la petite tailleuse chinoise is now stored on my hard disk, waiting for a proper hard copy transfer. Was surpised to see it being rented out at a local video shop, and it even looks legal. Maybe its Nero (Burning ROM)’s fault, but the vcd just stopped after 10 minutes. and the dialogue doesnt even sync with the video. oh well, at least i didnt buy it :)

Dont forget to click the banner ad on top of that site. Oh heck, click here, to see the site of the latest Takeshi Kitano flick; it looks utterly breathtaking.
