Today’s The Day I Developed My Own B&W Film
Just got back from Jay Javier’s FotoFabrik studio, and my hands still have the stink of film developer and fixer. Black and white developing isn’t that hard when you actually do it, and after you’ve overcome the struggle of PROPERLY loading the film into the developing tank’s spool, all you really have to screw up is the timing and chemistry. Ahh, I just wished I had good photos exposed.
UPDATE: Luis posted some photos of this meetup on one of his blogs.
Sad Kermit Covers NIN’s Hurt
See Sad Kermit perform Nine Inch Nail’s song Hurt.
NOTE: This is a tongue-in-cheek video of a puppet doing non-wholesome stuff. Not to be taken seriously.

What’s Playing In My Browser? Metalocalypse!
I needed a break from all the Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes. Going through Glath Video’s archives, I was taken in by Metalocalypse:
[Metalocalypse] follows the exploits of the part-American/part-Scandinavian metal band Dethklok… They enjoy a popularity level unheard of in reality, being “the twelfth largest economy on Earth.” They are so popular that their fans will do anything their songs tell them, even if it means death (source)
For someone who occasionally listened to death metal during the 90s, this is one helluva treat. Pity that I don’t know anyone else who could find the humor and in-jokes  in the series.
Blogger Gets Death Threats

LOTD: From Freak House to Whats Up in Gloria-land
I know, the ‘asides’ concept should already cover this, but my current handling of asides posts usually merit a one or two paragraph commentary. Hence, the need for a ‘Links Of The Day‘ or ‘LOTD‘ -insert snarky reaction, you know you want to- post every so often.
And for today:
- Ricoh’s Caplio GX100: not a DSLR, not a point-and-shoot (via Engadget). Promising, but my imaginary money is still for the Sigma DP-1.
- Ruined Russian gangster’s towering log cabin (via BoingBoing), in my humble opinion, should not be torn down. Come on, its freak architecture at its best.
- Military men are also patroling the rich neighborhoods, too (via jessicarulestheuniverse). Immersion? Looks like ill-planned propaganda to me.
- UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial killings Philip Alston: Govt reaction to visit ‘deeply schizophrenic’ (via Inquirer). Frankly, no need to comment on this one.
- Sonic Youth in Shanghai (via Shanghaiist). Crap. Well, just weed through some of my photos featured on the expat-centric site instead (though I don’t think the listing is complete).
