Abe tagged me for the video baton meme. So, here’s my contribution:
Total Number of Films I own on DVD and Video : 50-70 VCDs + 40-50 DVD’s
The Last Film I Bought : Lars von Trier’s Dogville (2003)
Five (5) Films Which
I Watch A Lot/Mean A Lot To Me :
Gillian Armstrong’s Oscar and Lucinda (1997)
[On how Christians are by nature gamblers] Oscar: We bet that there is a God.
David Cronenberg’s Spider (2002)
Terrence: Clothes maketh the man; and the less there is of the man, the more the need of the clothes.
David Lynch’s Blue Velvet (1986)
Dorothy Vallens: I have a part of you with me. You put your disease in me. It helps me. It makes me strong.
Roman Polanski’s Chinatown (1974)
Man with Knife (played by director Polanski himself): You’re a very nosy fellow, kitty cat. Huh? You know what happens to nosy fellows? Huh? No? Wanna guess? Huh? No? Okay. They lose their noses.
Ryutaro Nakamura’s Serial Experiments: Lain (1998)
Chisa Yomoda: There was no reason for me to stay in the real world any longer. In the real world, it didn’t matter if I was there or not. When I realized that, I was no longer afraid of losing my body.
Note that the first and second film has Ralph Fiennes playing lead; the man has been obviously semi-typecast in the perpetually-tortured soul character, and I regard the fact that he does it so well as an excellent homage-of-sorts, to the misunderstood, sad, intense, and angry mindset-timebombs out there. It’s more than just emo-angst, I think.
Also note that I’m not by far a really big anime-fan, but Serial Experiments: Lain filled up all the geeky holes that settled on me when I watched it. See, I also spent a week converting all 13 epsidodes from AVI to MPEG/DAT, so I can watch it on the DVD player.
If anyone has a copy of Oscar and Lucinda, preferably in VCD or DVD, or even MPEG, AVI, please let me know 😀
I’m supposed to pass this on, but I really can’t think of… oh, ok, I’ll just go for Attorney-to-be Bañez 🙂
