Editorial: Desperate for Obama

I’m not the sort who would blog about politics, but the following editorial piece from today’s Philippine Daily Inquirer needs to be brought out:

AFTER seven years in office, the President of the Philippines and her officials should be conducting our national affairs with greater aplomb and less bumbling. But bumble she did (and bumble they all did) as the Palace desperately sought a sign of endorsement from the American president-elect. She could have simply sent a telegram and lobbied behind the scenes for a return call. Instead, she threw herself at Barack Obama, and her subordinates threw a tantrum when she was rebuffed.

To top it all off—and this is what has caused the latest wave of national exasperation over the antics of our bumbler-in-chief—it comes at the incompetent little heels of previous, clumsy attempts at securing an Obama photo opportunity for President Macapagal-Arroyo.

On Sleeping Better At Night: Podcasting, Schmodcasting

Yes, this podcasting thing I’ve been doing is real nice and stuff, but I figured out its better to be safe than sorry.

So here’s the plan: I’ll try to figure out a better, less can’t-sleep-at-night way of sharing music, in podcast form, or otherwise. I’m liking, and its Twitter-meets-Muxtape form.

As for the episode archives, I’ll do some work and take out the links to streaming and downloadable episodes. If you want to get a copy of a particular episode, leave a comment on the post.

So the show’s dead?! I hope not. I’m reading up on some alternatives to safely continue the show.

Bush To Filipino President: “I Am Reminded Of The Great Talent Of The — Of Our Philippine-Americans When I Eat Dinner At The White House”

Its surprising that local news has a very sympathetic take on GMA’s visit to the US:

US vows to supply RP food needs – PhilStar
Bush offers condolences, aid to Philippines – PDI

When the Huffingtonpost headlines:

President Bush met with Filipino President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo today at the White House. Arroyo was in Washington while her country tries to recover from a typhoon that devastated coastal areas and flipped a ferry carrying over 800 passengers last week. Before discussing aide for the Philippines, Bush couldn’t resist beginning the sober meeting with a quip about a Filipino member of his kitchen staff. Other coverage bits:

Why so, when in previous instances, there’d be a huge ruckus over something like this?
